Doctrinal Statement
Our Doctrinal position is that expressed by the evangelical tradition.
We believe:
· that the Bible contains all things
necessary for salvation;
- · that the Bible is the inspired Word
of God (2 Timothy 3:15-16, 2 Peter 1:21);
- · in the unity of the One True and
Living God who is the Eternal, Self Existent "I AM", who has also revealed
Himself as One Being in three Persons, existing as Father, Son and Holy
Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29, Matthew 28:19);
- · in the Virgin Birth, Sinless Life,
Miraculous Ministry, Sacrificial and Substitutionary Atoning Death, Bodily
Resurrection, Triumphant Ascension and Abiding Intercession of the Lord
Jesus Christ and in His Second Coming as the blessed hope set before all
believers (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:22, Acts 2:22,
Acts 10:38, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 9:12, Luke 24:39, 1 Corinthians
15:4, Acts 1:9, Ephesians 4:8-10, Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25, 1 Corinthians
15:22-24, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelations
20:1-6); i
- · in the just and loving sovereignty
of God in the creation, providence, redemption and consummation of the
world;
- · in the creation of men and women in
the image and likeness of God, pure and upright, conferring on them dignity
and worth; who have, however, voluntarily sinned and come short of God's
glory (Genesis 1:26-31, Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-21);
- · in the true deity and true humanity
of Jesus Christ, God's Son, Messiah and Lord;
- · His birth by the Spirit and His
existence as the one who uniquely reveals God's character and will, whose
life has become the pattern and standard for our own;
- · in the sacrificial life, death and
resurrection of Jesus which alone have defeated the powers of darkness and
through His blood atoned for sin, enabling forgiveness and oneness -
redemption with God for all who receive Him in faith and obedience (Titus
2:11, Titus 3:5-7, Romans 10:8-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4);
- · in the ascension of Jesus, and the
expectation of His coming in power and glory; in the work of the Holy Spirit
awakening, renewing, indwelling and empowering those who believe; producing
in them His character and giving them His gifts;
- · in the scriptures which have their
source and inspiration in God, and in the church are the final authority of
truth, faith and conduct;
- · in the community of faith who from
the universal church, made up of those committed in faith and discipleship
to Jesus;
- · in the commission of Jesus to
proclaim in word and action the gospel of peace to all creation; making
disciples and working for justice and reconciliation until God's kingdom
comes in its completeness; that Breaking of Bread is enjoined upon all
believers until the Lord comes (Luke 2:14-20, 1 Corinthians 11:20-34);
- · in the bodily resurrection of all
humankind, in the everlasting conscious bliss of all who truly believe in
our Lord Jesus Christ and that everlasting conscious punishment is the
portion of all whose names are not written in the Book of Life (John
5:28-29, 1 Corinthians 15:22-24, Daniel 12:2-3, Matthew 25:46, 2
Thessalonians 1:9, Revelations 20:10-15)
- We also adhere to the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed and authorized
